How You’ll Make an Impact

This role will lead the Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs for Valvoline Global Operations. The Regulatory Affairs Advisor would work in partnership with product strategy, legal, and research & development to ensure creation and production of safe and compliant products. The main responsibility of the role is to keep VGO compliant related regarding products. The role would represent the company with government and industry associations as appropriate and help influence current and future regulations.

In the role, you would be responsible for:

  • Build a robust product stewardship program related to product safety/regulatory compliance in partnership with R&D, Legal, and Product Strategy. Provide guidance and advice on development and production of safe and compliant products. Monitor for and communicate emerging regulations and requirements on raw materials and finished products. Educate the business on product regulatory affairs and provide recommendations.
  • Monitor regulations and regulatory trends at the country, federal and state level to assess impact on Valvoline Global products and inform the appropriate business partners. Stay up to date with laws, regulations and standards for VGO raw materials and products in the areas of labeling, packaging, hazards and product specifications. Manages product assessments, registrations and compliance projects.
  • Develop and maintain a guide for claims based on applicable regulations. Communicate and train teams on guide. Network with regulatory agencies and participate in industry associations to shape regulations to benefit Valvoline Global product design or market access.
  • Create and maintain Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) plan aligned with current and future state requirements.

What You’ll Need

  • BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field, with demonstrated science-driven thinking.
  • 7+ years of relevant product stewardship or regulatory compliance experience with GHS consumer products,or other regulated products.
  • Experience with hazard communication such as Globally Harmonized System (GHS), US Federal and State level chemicals regulations programs, REACH, including regulatory processes such as restrictions, authorizations, risk management options/analysis and product bans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present critical information.
  • Familiarity with lubricants and car care products.
  • Attention to detail, excellent problem solving, good communication skills and teamwork, and capable of working under pressure.
  • Must have high sense of integrity and responsibility.
  • Ability to lead and influence stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally with individuals in a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds and build effective relationships.
  • Knowledgeable of Government agency requirements in the region.
  • Ability to travel domestically and possibly international.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
