The Regional Manager – Automotive oversees the automotive operations inclusive of achievement and sales targets and performance of the automotive sales teams across the assigned region. A region will encompass multiple states and territories in the ANZ business.
The role will manage the effective coordination of regional sales and admin activities. The role will lead the sales team by mentoring and coaching each team member.
How You Make An Impact (Job Accountabilities)
- Ensure the profitable sales of the company’s products through all automotive sales programs, promotions, and objectives. Achieve or exceed the branch sales budget in all categories. Ensure the maximization of each customer’s product range. Review and negotiate new business opportunities. Build strong relationships with all major customers and decision makers by calling on them at least one a month.
- Oversee the acquisition of new business by increasing customer numbers and increasing the range of business to existing customers. Develop and implement strategic plans for acquiring new business. Ensure all CSV and Territory Manager resources are used effectively to prospect for new business and to work as a team.
- Mentor and coach the Automotive Field Sales Manager and sales team members to maximise everyone’s potential. Partner with staff reporting to you to set performance and development goals, as well as monitoring the achievement of them. Proactively design and run product specific sales training and role plays at least once per month at branch sales meetings. Undertake sales team performance appraisals.
- Monitor and report the sales performance of sales personnel. Analysis reporting of territory data including KPIs, planners, call patterns, call sheets, CRM, PVR’s and market share analysis. Monitor, report and recommend actions regarding competitor product, marketing, and pricing strategies. Compile monthly state automotive sales reports. Report all outstanding administration and supply issues to the national managers of those departments. Report on performance scorecard monthly, progress reports monthly, progress notes weekly and analysis quarterly and year end.
- Assist and promote the development of new selling techniques in each sector
- Arrange dealer nights and activities where require. Assist in the design and implementation of localized promotions to compliment national promotion program. Ensure the implementation of the CSV promotional calendar.
- Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
Primary Interactions - Internal and External

Liaise with internal management to coordinate the effective management of branch sales programs

Liaise with internal suppliers to ensure maximised efficiency in customer supply

Communicate with head office management on a regular basis, ensuring that all channels, disciplines, and processes are well represented in the branch

Promptly report all key issues and impediments to the relevant Heads of Sales

Liaise with National Customer Service Manager to ensure customer services issues are resolved in a timely and effective manner

Liaise with Warehouse Manager to ensure timely and effective delivery of customer requirements

Convene regular team communication meetings

Coordinate sales, admin, and supply chain activities in the state to ensure key stakeholders provide seamless customer support to our customers.
What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)
- Tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing or Business discipline preferred

5 years’ experience in a sales team management role

Considerable experience in lubrication or FMCG industry preferred

- Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: General Office Setting and Driving in Motor Vehicle
- Travel Requirements: Frequent travel required, with customer meetings expected most days of the week, including up to 10% overnight travel per month
