This role is responsible for managing a team in a designated territory or region ensuring that the team is accountable for the distribution of batteries and associated products in a timely manner, management of inventory, outstanding customer service all while maintaining the businesses safety standards. Special focus should be put on enhancing existing client relationships, assisting our customer base to meet/exceed key performance indicators, supervising and developing subordinates, assisting in the development/improvement of policies or practices related to program efficiencies, contributing to operational and marketing strategies, and reporting results to division management. This position is subject to general supervision and requires the regular use of independent judgement and discretion. Able to create and develop a team atmosphere and working environment with leadership, peers and subordinates.
The Territory Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations, VCA Solutions.
Duties and Primary Responsibilities:
- Hiring, training, performance management, direction, and supervision of direct reports
- Review and assess battery business to measure and address productivity or goal achievement
- Identify and resolve specific issues related to inventory management practices, sales performance, warranty administration, driver training and/or performance management
- Create and implement policies and procedures for service route activities and operations management activities specific to assigned territory or region
- Monitor and direct day-to-day management and associated activities to ensure that they are in alignment with company safety standards
- Develop and implement best practices in inventory management and program management at client sites in assigned territory or region
- Engage regularly with customer management teams, corporate and franchise (depending on the territory)
- Identify market trends and develop innovative ideas to increase sales
- Manage and facilitate all facets of supply management activities between business units working with external battery vendor(s) and associated warehouse staff
- Lead by example demonstrating appropriate communication, treating all people with respect and dignity, and promoting equity and fairness - includes ensuring compliance with employment law, HR policies, and procedures
- Lead the business unit to meet its objectives, to live the values, and to create a culture of positive reinforcement around company policies and practices
- Perform other duties as required
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED (required), Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or related discipline (preferred)
- At least 5 years of related management experience, preferably in the automotive industry
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client support, including client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction
- Proven ability to positively affect customer satisfaction levels
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Implementation skills; ability to identify, schedule and complete tasks independently
- Professional demeanor and high ethical standard
- Strong decision-making/judgement skills; solution-oriented
- Solid organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines and keep appointments on time
- Comfortable learning and using new technological systems

Physical and other Requirements:
- Ability to load/unload and deliver automobile batteries, must be able to lift 50-75 pounds unassisted to waist level, push a cart with ~300 pounds
- Compliance with Workplace Safety standards
- 50-100%% Domestic travel (at times with very little notice)
