The IT Senior Manager, CI/CD Engineering & DevOps is responsible for owning and evolving Valvoline Global Operations' enterprise continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated quality engineering capabilities. This leader drives the modernization of VGO's delivery pipelines across SAP S/4HANA (and associated SAP products), Salesforce, Databricks, and custom application platforms — replacing traditional manual QA and change management practices with automated, pipeline-driven quality gates, continuous testing, and intelligent release governance.

Reporting to the Director Strategy, this role serves as the enterprise authority for CI/CD pipeline standards, automated regression frameworks, code quality enforcement, ARB and CAB-aligned change risk assessments, cutover execution, and production failover readiness. The role is a critical leadership position for VGO's transformation to a modern software delivery organization operating at global scale.

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

  • CI/CD Pipeline Ownership & DevOps Engineering Leadership
    • Own the enterprise CI/CD pipeline strategy, architecture, and execution across all VGO platforms. Drive adoption of modern pipeline tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, cALM, SAP Solution Manager, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, other pipelines). Enforce pipeline-as-code standards, enforce branch strategy governance, and ensure automated build, test, and deploy processes operate across SAP BTP, Salesforce, Databricks, and custom application stacks. Lead the shift-left engineering culture embedding quality and security at every pipeline stage.
  • Automated Testing Strategy & Regression Governance
    • Define and govern the enterprise automated testing strategy encompassing functional, integration, regression, performance, and security test automation. Own the automation-first mandate — eliminate manual regression cycles with repeatable, pipeline-integrated test suites. Establish code coverage thresholds, regression gates, and test-data management standards. Oversee toolchain selection and governance (Selenium, Playwright, Tosca, UFT One, OpenText ALM, REST Assured) aligned to VGO's SAP S/4HANA, Salesforce, and API integration landscape. This includes security penetration and performance testing utilizing tools such as Loadrunner, etc.
  • Code Quality, Peer Review & Static Analysis Governance
    • Establish and enforce enterprise code quality standards and automated code review practices using static analysis tooling (SonarQube, CodeQL, ESLint, ABAP Code Inspector). Govern pull request workflows, peer review SLAs, and automated gate enforcement within GitHub Enterprise. Align code quality checks against documented architecture requirements and clean core compliance standards (particularly for SAP S/4HANA ABAP extensibility). Partner with the EA team on ARB reviews for major changes requiring architecture sign-off.  Avoidance of the discovery of issues at the time of CAB, involvement in entire process is required
  • ARB and CAB Reviews, Change Risk Assessment & Release Governance
    • Serve as the DevOps and Release lead in the Architecture Review Board (ARB) process, assessing delivery readiness, pipeline compliance, and change risk for platform and application changes. Own the change advisory function: risk-score changes, enforce change windows, govern emergency change procedures, and maintain auditability across environments. Ensure release governance aligns with SOX controls, PDPL obligations, and VGO security standards. Lead go/no-go decision authority for major releases.
  • Cutover Planning, Failover Readiness & Production Resilience
    • Lead enterprise cutover planning, execution, and cutover command operations for major releases including SAP S/4HANA Project Phoenix wave go-lives. Own the cutover runbook library and rehearsal cadence. Define and validate failover and rollback procedures for all production environments. Ensure BCP/DR alignment for production pipelines, including RTO/RPO targets for CI/CD toolchain failures. Partner with infrastructure and platform engineering on environment stability, blue-green and canary deployment patterns, and post-release hypercare.
  • Team Leadership, DevOps Culture & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead and develop a global DevOps engineering team including release engineers, automation engineers, QA leads, and pipeline specialists. Build a culture of engineering excellence, blameless post-mortems, and continuous improvement (DORA metrics-driven). Define career development paths and upskilling programs aligned to modern DevOps toolchains and practices. Drive VGO-wide adoption of DevOps maturity assessment frameworks and report pipeline health and delivery velocity to senior IT and business leadership.
