Job Purpose

The SAP Basis Systems Admin Senior serves as an expert in SAP BASIS Administration and is responsible for the performance, reliability, security, and management of the SAP landscapes. This role demands a robust understanding and ability to manage SAP system architecture, including, but not limited to, S/4HANA, ECC, Solution Manager, Rev-Trac, Cloud Application Lifecycle Management (cALM), and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).  The administrator will work with various IT teams to establish standards and requirements for proper operation of SAP systems and provide technical expertise on all SAP related platforms.

 

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

  • Provides day-to-day expertise and technical support for SAP systems, platforms, and associated services in scope by working directly with users to research, troubleshoot and resolve issues in accordance with service level agreements and operational level agreements. 
  • Lead effort in creating strategy and roadmap, working closely with other areas of Valvoline IT and business groups. 
  • Provide expert-level support and advisory services to the SAP functional teams, serving as a subject matter expert in SAP technologies.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the organization and 3rd party resources to ensure seamless support, maintenance, and optimization of our SAP environments.  This includes coordinating issue resolution, system updates, and strategizing on SAP enhancements.
  • Participate in monthly release planning and deployment of cloud applications.
  • Monitor and manage ticket queues dedicated to SAP issues and requests, prioritizing actions based on urgency and business impact. Ensure clear documentation of issues, actions taken, and resolutions.
  • Work as a project resource in representing IT and VGO interest on technology items related to SAP Basis
  • Administer SAP change transport processes, adhering to best practices for change control and documentation.
  • Mentor and train junior level admins.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by VGO from time to time in its sole discretion.

 

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Business Administration (or higher) in an IT related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience or internship in applying information technology solutions.
  • 5+ years of SAP Basis Administration experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience administering, troubleshooting, and supporting the technologies listed within the Primary Duties and Responsibilities section(s).

 

Competencies Desired

  • SAP HANA 2.0, S/4HANA
  • Knowledge of IT related concepts needed to troubleshoot administrative issues.
  • Experience with Windows and Unix operating systems is required.
  • Experience with Office 365 tools is required.
  • Expert knowledge of Sap Cloud Platform, SAP Cloud Platform Integration, Hana DB administration, Hana DB Security, Smart Data Integration, Cloud Connector
  • Knowledge of BW4Hana, Hana 2.0, integration of Hana Enterprise Cloud into on-premise environment.
  • Intermediate understanding of SAP ERP, HCM, JAVA, ABAP, BW, HANA, Adobe Document Services, GRC, S/4, Fiori.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Oracle, MSSQL and HANA database systems
  • Expert knowledge of Solution Manager
  • Knowledge of cloud monitoring tools and how to implement holistic monitoring strategies.
  • Knowledge of change management processes, standards, and best practices of change management and compliance.
  • Knowledge of release management and deployment processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of SAP Basis concepts
  • Knowledge of performing client copies, system refreshes and database management, create and delete clients, organize system copies
  • Knowledge of SAP Support model and how to engage SAP enterprise support.
  • Knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud administrative functions.
  • Knowledge of DevOps methodology and best change management practices
  • Common knowledge of integration best practices and the ability to architect solutions.
  • Knowledge of web applications and administration best practices
  • Knowledge of certificate management best practices and administration
  • General knowledge of identity providers
  • General knowledge of configuring SSO in Cloud applications
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and implement functional proof of concepts to aid business innovation.
  • Able to follow ITIL processes when working with a Managed Service Provider that provides infrastructure support.
  • Ability to coordinate all activities with internal IT and managed service provider teams to ensure technical activities are completed successfully.
  • Works together with various IT related infrastructure and application groups in the implementation/resolution of change, incident, and problem management.
  • Knowledge of service level management strategies, operational methods, procedures, facilities, and tools.
  • Intermediate Knowledge of security administration policies, standards, processes, and guidelines.
  • Experience with database administration: HANA, relational, MySQL, performance optimization/tuning.
  • Experience with incident and problem management, coordination, and resolution.
  • Knowledge of architecture principles and concepts.
  • Understanding of concepts regarding scalability and continuous integration.
