Job Purpose

Reporting to the Platform Marketing Manager Europe, this role is responsible for managing and maintaining the Heavy Duty & Industrial product portfolio, including the introduction of new products and projects in the European Heavy Duty & Industrial space. The Heavy Duty segment within Valvoline Europe prioritizes on-road applications, such as trucks and buses, and focuses primarily on motor oils, driveline and greases.

This is a senior specialist role, requiring strong experience in the lubricants or automotive industry. The job holder must bring a thorough understanding of product portfolios, applications, and market dynamics. Success in this position requires the ability to handle constant commercial pressure from sales teams and external distributors, while managing a complex agenda with multiple high-stakes projects.

The incumbent must be highly organized, proactive, curious, and eager to learn, with the resilience to challenge the status quo and align with ambitious organizational goals. Crucially, this role demands the ability to lead by influence across functions and geographies, without direct reporting lines, and to represent the assigned portfolio credibly to both internal and external stakeholders.

 

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

  1. Manage the product portfolio for the assigned product platforms, ensuring competitive positioning and alignment with customer needs.
  2. Lead and/or support projects and new product introductions (NSDs), including business case development and financial justification for new initiatives.
  3. Gather and analyze market and competitor information, developing market insights, trends, and a deep understanding of market and customer dynamics.
  4. Evaluate portfolio performance and proactively drive improvement and optimization, including reformulations and cost improvements (together with PLM team).
  5. Work directly with the global and regional Product Strategy team to support the development of future portfolio strategy.
  6. Manage and develop marketing and sales programs and tools (digital and printed collaterals, trainings, promotions).
  7. Collaborate closely with sales teams and the marketing activation team to maximize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and product launches.
  8. Oversee the representation of the Heavy Duty portfolio in European e-catalogues and technical document platforms (lube advisor, PI sheets, third-party catalogues).
  9. Participate in and/or lead internal projects designed to improve the efficiency and operation of the product portfolio team.

 

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing
  • Advantage: Technical or engineering qualifications in the automotive industry
  • Advantage: Master's degree in business or marketing
  • Minimum: 5+ years of B2B marketing experience.
  • Required: Experience in the lubricants, automotive, or closely related industrial sectors, with knowledge of product portfolios and applications.
  • Advantage: Experience in product marketing, project management, or direct collaboration with distributors and OEMs.

  • Strong understanding of lubricants portfolios, applications, and market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with e-catalogues and technical documentation environments used to represent product portfolios in the European market.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to communicate in other European languages is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to handle commercial pressure from sales teams and distributors while maintaining effective collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational skills; capable of managing a demanding agenda with multiple simultaneous projects without losing focus or resilience.
  • Hands-on mentality and results driven.
  • Proactive, curious, hungry to learn, and willing to challenge the status quo while aligning with organizational ambitions.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to represent the portfolio effectively to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experienced at working in teams and with remote colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence across functions and regions, without direct reporting lines.

 

Marketing, analytical and financial skills

  • Good understanding of how to use marketing tools and techniques to promote products.
  • Good understanding of how to create value propositions.
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to interpret market data.

Computer literacy

  • Adept at using Office 365 applications, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.
