Job Purpose

The Demand Planner will be responsible for all aspects of demand forecasting for their assigned portfolio of product and customer attributes. This role will oversee the consolidation of multiple demand inputs from (cross-functional teams) Marketing, Sales, Finance and Product Strategy/PLM into one comprehensively assembled demand forecast.

In addition, this role will have direct accountability for unconstrained forecast, forecast bias, accuracy, and the process to deliver it. Responsibilities will include ownership of Demand Review meetings.

How You Make an Impact 

Demand Planning area

  • Responsible for conducting demand reviews resulting into consensus plans for rolling 24 months in alignment with financial LE/annual plans.
  • Responsible for maintaining forecast in all the 3 profiles of OMP – Central, Consensus & Operational
  • Accountable for releasing the final consensus plan every month along with a one -pager on assumptions, opportunities & threats recorded during the demand discussion.
  • Responsible for collecting data on factors known to impact demand.
  • Keep a close eye on the quality of statistically generated forecast and the default forecasting methods being used for the region.
  • Lead on building cross-functional collaboration with PLM, Sales & Marketing to get the latest insights on product/portfolio roadmap and understanding market dynamics of competition, price impacts, promotions, new product launch & new customer on-boarding.
  • Coordinates monthly demand review meetings and provides related input to S&OP meetings and projects.
  • Responsible for monitoring and improving processes, following market trends, and analysing historical performance.
  • Validates the forecast submitted by the sales team by comparing to historical trends, market dynamics, and customer sell-out data.
  • With sales and marketing colleagues, analyses sales and works directly with selected major customers to improve their forecasting. Develops forecast accuracy monitoring process for major customers.
  • Collaborate with Product strategy/PLM group to understand product evolution and do PLC’s (Phase-in/Phase-out/Replace-by) to create new forecast items and manage demand.
  • Responsible for short term demand sensing and informing S&OE process on major deviations.
  • Analyses forecast accuracy and proposes improvement actions.

Production area

  • Prepares proposal for what-if scenarios considering multiple forecasts groups.
  • Understands constrained demand and impact on sales volumes and gives feedback to Sales team regarding execution based on the approved S&OP plan.

Inventories

  • Targets high forecast accuracy to maximize customer service level and minimize excess inventory creation.

Portfolio

  • Supports portfolio reviews with PLM.

Projects

  • Supports implementation of different tools, especially from the OMP area, and is included into all relevant projects.

 

What You Bring to the Role

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or similar technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Demand planner, it is preferred that partially from lubricants business.

 

Competencies Desired

  • Advanced Excel is essential, Power BI knowledge is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to support decision making.
  • Good presentation & data visualization skills
  • Strong collaboration skills enabling efficient executive communication allowing for effectively working with cross -functional stakeholders and multicultural teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency in forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Good understanding of S&OP processes in an international business environment, including demand & supply planning processes.
  • Solid knowledge in SAP
  • Experience in OMP OPR is an advantage.
  • Fluent English - spoken and written.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proactive with positive, constructive attitude.

 

Stakeholder Management

This role needs to establish relationships with key roles through the operational teams and through other process owners:

  • Commercial (sales and marketing)
  • Finances
  • Supply chain (production, logistics, order management, quality management)
  • Demand planners across different location across the world and business units in Valvoline
  • S&OP coordinators across different geographies and business units
  • Finances
  • Product development and costing
  • Other process owners (procurement, portfolio planning, order management, etc.)

This role will have contacts with externals - major customers on ad hoc basis and strategic customers. Travel is expected 10-20% within Europe.
