Job Purpose

The General Manager Europe is responsible for the overall leadership, growth, and profitability of the European region for VGO, executing a harmonized strategy developed in partnership with the SVP, EMEA and the GM, MEA. This role functions as a General Manager for the Europe region, overseeing Sales, Marketing, Pricing, and Business Strategy with indirect leadership over Operations, HR, Finance, and Legal.

 

The role will drive revenue growth, market expansion, and operational excellence across all European countries while managing the go-to-market strategy including eCommerce, direct sales, and indirect distribution channels. This executive plays a pivotal role in managing P&L performance, overseeing multi-channel sales execution, and developing customer and market strategies across Installer, Do-It-For-Me (DIFM), Direct Customers, Lubricants Distributors, OEMs and Retail (Express Care) channels throughout Europe.

 

The GM, Europe will lead a high-performing team of sales executives, sales leaders, and professionals, ensuring alignment with Valvoline Global’s business strategy. This role also focuses on executive key account management, handling relationships with large-revenue installers and automotive service centers, OEMs and Large Corporate Customers (Aramco and Affiliates), optimizing sales operations, improve customer experience and create value for customers.  This role will also balance direct management for certain functions and indirect influence for other global functions falling within the leadership purview.

 

Reporting directly to the SVP, GM, EMEA and partnering closely with the GM, MEA, this leader is accountable for delivering regional growth, operational efficiency, and financial performance while maintaining cost discipline and effective expense management. 

 

 

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

 

Strategic Leadership & Business Growth 

  • Execute a regional business strategy aligned with the broader regional and global objectives, targeting double-digit revenue growth.
  • Own the P&L for Europe, ensuring financial performance, revenue targets, and profitability goals are met or exceeded.
  • Spearhead brand marketing, pricing strategies, and product training initiatives to drive market penetration and customer engagement.
  • Lead the Retail, distribution, and direct sales channels, optimizing go-to-market strategies for varying market conditions. 

 

Commercial & Sales Leadership

  • Provide direct and indirect leadership across the European region
  • Execute a regional sales and go-to-market strategy to maximize revenue and market share.
  • Oversee channel strategy development, ensuring a balance between direct sales, distributors, and eCommerce platforms.
  • Strengthen relationships with key customers, distributors, and partners to enhance market share and brand presence.
  • Manage and monitor pricing strategy across Europe to maximize profitability while maintaining competitiveness. 

 

Marketing & Brand Development

  • Ensure a consistent and powerful brand presence across all European markets, in harmony with the broader EMEA region.
  • Ensure product training, marketing campaigns, and customer engagement initiatives are applied with the appropriate regional relevance
  • Utilize data-driven insights to optimize marketing investments and ROI.
  • Develop innovative customer engagement programs to build loyalty and brand equity.

 

Organizational & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead a high-performing, matrixed organization, collaborating with Operations, Finance, HR, and Legal to ensure smooth execution of regional business initiatives.
  • Work closely with the regional EMEA team to align European operations with the broader regional and global corporate vision.
  • Drive talent development, succession planning, and cultural alignment across all European markets. 

 

Operational & Financial Management

  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to optimize regional supply, distribution, and logistics.
  • Work with Finance to ensure compliance, risk management, and financial control across all markets.
  • Drive cost efficiency and resource optimization without compromising growth objectives.

 

 

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

  • 15+ years of executive leadership experience in a multinational company, preferably within EMEA markets (spotlight on the EU countries).
  • Proven track record of leading a $0.5B+ revenue business unit or region with P&L accountability.
  • Experience managing a complex, multi-country, multi-channel sales model, including direct sales, distribution, and eCommerce.
  • Strong leadership in Sales, Marketing, and Pricing, with indirect influence over Operations, HR, Finance, and Legal.
  • Deep understanding of European business dynamics, regulatory environments, and cultural diversity.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and execution skills.
  • Strong people leadership capabilities, with experience managing VP/GM-level leaders across multiple countries.
  • Ability to drive innovation, digital transformation, and business expansion.

  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet business objectives.
  • Significant travel required (>60%)
