Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. We prefer candidates willing to work an in-office work schedule (3 days per week). We're also open to candidates living in nearby markets (i.e. Louisville or Cincinnati), but willing to visit HQs weekly.
How You’ll Make An Impact
The Senior Tax Accountant position requires (a) significant experience with corporate tax compliance processes and practices; (b) significant corporate tax subject matter expertise (federal, state, local); (c) some experience in tax accounting and tax provision matters; and (d) experience with ERP and tax software platforms. The expectation is that the incumbent will be able to prepare, and file tax returns using available IT platforms with minimal supervision and perform the tax accounting required to reflect the tax compliance functions, and also be guide and train lower-level staff as needed.
Responsibilities Include
- Reviews, prepares, and processes, with co-source service provider, most complicated federal (including US International forms), state, and local income tax returns, including supporting workpapers and analysis and internal controls and retention policies with minimum amount of guidance and supervision; assist junior team members.
- Reviews and prepares tax provision calculations, workpapers and supporting schedules based on SAP financial records and support internal controls and retention policies with minimum amount of guidance and supervision; assist junior team members.
- Reviews, prepares and processes federal, state, and local income extensions and estimated payment calculations and returns with minimum amount of guidance and supervision; assist junior team members.
- Supports research of tax law changes and tax planning opportunities with minimum amount of guidance and supervision; assist junior team members.
- Support tax controversy / tax audit defense / tax authority inquiries with minimum amount of guidance and supervision; assist junior team members.
- Support tax technology administration
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably Accounting) or equivalent combination of experience and education (“ECEE”)
- 3-5+ years’ experience required.
- Requires solid tax and accounting technical skills in financial analysis
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, PPT, Outlook)
- Experience with tax software (i.e. OneSource, CorpTax, Vertex, etc.)
- Experience with ERP systems (i.e. SAP, JD Edwards, etc.)
