Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. We prefer local candidates willing to work an in-office work schedule (3 days per week).
How You’ll Make An Impact
As the Regulatory Affairs Advisor, this role will lead Product Stewardship and Regulatory Affairs for Valvoline Global business. Works in partnership with Product strategy, Legal, and R&D to ensure the development and product of safe and compliant products. Represents the company with industry associations and government agencies as appropriate.
In addition, this role will be responsible for the following:
- Build a robust product stewardship program at Valvoline Global related to product safety/regulatory compliance in partnership with R&D, Legal, and Product Strategy to ensure safe and compliant products
- Monitors regulations and regulatory trends at the country, federal, and stale levels to assess the impact on Valvoline Global products and advises necessary business partners.
- Anticipate and communicate emerging regulations and requirements on raw materials and finished products, including chemicals of concern, and bring portfolio management recommendations. Inspire the team to work across complex and often ambiguous emerging regulatory frameworks that may impact product design or market access.
- Lead and maintain regulatory relationships with agencies, industry associations, and others to shape regulations to benefit Valvoline Global product design or market access.
- Manages product assessments, registrations, and compliance projects. Continuously review current products sold for Prop65 and VOC compliance. Maintains records as required.
- Stays up to date with laws, regulations, and standards for Valvoline Global Products in the areas of labeling, packaging, hazards, and product specifications.
- Develop and maintain a guide for claims based on applicable regulations including NIST, Substantiation based on Deception Policy Statement, and Federal Trade Commission.
- Create and maintain an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) plan aligned with current and future state requirements.
What You’ll Need
- BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field, with demonstrated science-driven thinking
- 7+ years of relevant product stewardship or regulatory compliance experience with GHS consumer products, or other regulated products
- Experience with hazard communication,( e.g. Globally Harmonized System (GHS), US Federal and State level chemicals regulations programs, REACH, including regulatory processes such as restriction, authorization, risk management options analysis, and product bans
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present critical information
- Attention to detail, good communication skills and teamwork, and capable of working under pressure
- Must have a high sense of integrity and responsibility
- Ability to lead and influence stakeholders and collaborate cross-functionally with individuals in a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds and build effective relationships.
- Knowledgeable of Government agency requirements in the region. Ability to travel domestically and possibly internationally
