The Procurement Specialist I will have spend segment responsibility and ownership, reporting to a Procurement Manager/Director. The Specialist role will work with sales, marketing, technical, EH&S and supply chain teams to ensure we have the right products, with the right vendors to support Valvoline's business objectives. They will have overall ownership for the Procurement strategy, vendor selection, vendor approval and vendor performance. They will facilitate strategic sourcing through market and industry analysis, supplier segmentation and supplier research/analytics and build effective relationships with current and potential partners.

 

How You Make an Impact

  • Business Needs: Be Valvoline's subject matter expert in the designated area of focus. Provide information, analysis and support to the sales and marketing teams for segment business analysis.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for each key material to include: 1)Assessment of key business needs/fully understanding the external environment; 2) Generate, analyze and execute RFQ's; 3) Performing industry analysis, supplier analysis and competitive analysis; 4) Developing market forecast/cost structure analysis; 5) SWOT analysis/selection of strategic choices and interventions; 6) tactical execution plan and business continuity plan; 7) Monitor and measure success
  • Vendor Risk Mitigation - Ensure vendors are appropriately chosen, managed and monitored to mitigate risk associated with supply interruption, environmental liability, cyber and legal liability. Manage supply plan and resolve supply issues. Support EH&S and Sustainability objectives.
  • Commercial Terms - Develop and execute a sourcing strategy and negotiate commercial terms to deliver optimal cost and support Valvoline's financial and operational objectives.
  • Quality Service - Establish and measure quality standards for each area ensuring standards are consistently up to date and standards are met.
  • Supplier Relationship Management - Use relationship management techniques to generate maximum long-term value.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

What You Bring to the Role

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement/purchasing experience and suppply chain related experience.
  • Must have very proficient SAP and SAP SNAP reporting, Word, Excel and Power Point skills.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, manage complex projects and data and operate very efficiently.
  • Must have excellent relationship skills, communications skills, be a great teammate, be very detail oriented and driven to succeed. 
  • High attention to detail, organizational strength, and commitment to operational excellence.
