Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. We prefer candidates who can work an in-office schedule (3 days per week).
The Manager, Finance – North Americas leads financial strategy, planning, performance management, and governance across Valvoline’s North America operations. Acting as the primary finance leader and business partner for the North America business, this role provides critical financial insight and strategic guidance to senior leaders, ensuring the business meets financial targets while advancing enterprise-wide priorities. This individual operates with a high degree of autonomy and judgment, balancing financial stewardship with value creation across a complex, matrixed organization. This position also supports the Vice President, Finance with various Americas’ initiatives. This role will interact with the SVP and GM – Americas, various VP of Sales, VP of Supply Chain, VP of Marketing, VGO’s Finance team in general (CFO, Corporate group, and Regional team)
This position is a key contributor within the finance team and collaborates extensively with commercial, supply chain, functional, and corporate leaders. The role demands a deep understanding of financial levers, business models, and market dynamics to drive growth, productivity & profitability, and cash generation across multiple business segments.
How You Will Make An Impact
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Act as the lead finance partner for North America operations, providing forward-looking insights and financial leadership to business unit leaders.
- Translate business strategy into financial outcomes, ensuring financial alignment with enterprise goals and shareholder expectations.
- Lead scenario planning and investment analysis to guide complex trade-off decisions and long-term capital allocation.
Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management
- Lead the annual planning and forecasting processes for North America and support the Vice President for the Total Americas, synthesizing inputs across multiple functions and translating them into actionable financial targets.
- Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting with clear analysis of results, risks, and opportunities; communicate insights to executive audiences.
- Monitor and enhance key performance metrics, margin management, and operational effectiveness.
Decision Support & Business Partnering
- Provide rigorous financial support for key business initiatives, including commercial strategy, pricing models, cost optimization, and capital investments.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing to ensure financial alignment on business execution.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to evaluate major investments, market entry strategies, and product launches.
Financial Controls & Governance
- Maintain a robust financial control environment across North America operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies, ICFR, and external regulations.
- Proactively identify financial or operational risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Partner with corporate audit and risk teams to support audits, resolve issues, and continuously improve control frameworks.
Cash & Working Capital Management
- Optimize working capital performance by partnering across functions to drive improvements in inventory, receivables, and payables.
- Support North America liquidity planning and partner with corporate Treasury on cash flow forecasting, intercompany funding, and banking operations.
Process Optimization & Systems Integration
- Lead initiatives to improve financial systems, planning tools, and analytics platforms across the North America finance function.
- Identify and implement best practices in FP&A, reporting, and business intelligence to increase speed, accuracy, and impact.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, data integrity, and performance transparency.
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, setting clear expectations, coaching for performance, and supporting career growth.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and elevate finance’s role as a strategic business partner.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related discipline
- 5–10+ years of progressive finance experience, with significant time spent in operational or corporate finance roles
- Proven success with influencing senior leaders and driving business outcomes in a complex, matrixed environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage planning cycles, guide investment decisions, and lead finance transformations
- Experience with large-scale ERP and planning tools (e.g., SAP, Anaplan, Power BI)
- Strategic financial thinker with strong commercial and operational acumen
- Exceptional analytical skills; adept at structuring problems and developing data-driven solutions
- Executive-level communication skills, including the ability to synthesize financial information for non-finance leaders
- High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to manage ambiguity
- Strong leadership presence with experience in building high-performing teams
