How You’ll Make an Impact
The HR Business Partner serves as a strategic and operational HR generalist for Valvoline Global Operations, supporting client groups such as the Legal, Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Growth, and Marketing functions. This role is the primary HR point of contact for the client groups and partners closely with business leaders and employees to ensure the successful execution of HR programs across the employee lifecycle. The role plays a key part in aligning talent strategies with business objectives and operates under the mentorship of the Sr. Manager, HR Business Partner.
Responsibilities Include
- Serve as a strategic consultant and trusted advisor providing high-quality guidance to functional leaders and employees across assigned client groups, aligning HR strategies with business goals.
- Guide and support the talent acquisition process by partnering closely with the Talent Acquisition (TA) team to ensure effective recruitment strategies, clear and compelling job descriptions, inclusive and structured selection processes, thoughtful candidate debriefs, offer recommendations, and approvals. Ensure an outstanding candidate and hiring manager experience throughout.
- Partner to support successful and engaging onboarding processes, ensuring employees and hiring managers receive appropriate information to be set up for success.
- Support the execution of key Total Rewards programs including annual merit and bonus planning, as well as benefits education and function-specific rewards initiatives such as wellness programming.
- Lead efforts to drive employee engagement by coordinating survey communications, cascading survey results to leaders, facilitating action planning sessions, and tracking follow-up to ensure progress toward measurable outcomes. Help position VGO as an employer of choice.
- Facilitate workforce and succession planning discussions to ensure the right talent is in the right roles at the right time, aligned to future organizational needs.
- Partner with the Learning & Development team to support leadership development, coaching, and targeted talent initiatives.
- Guide leaders through performance management processes including goal setting, development conversations, annual performance reviews, and performance improvement plans, ensuring fairness, consistency, and alignment with VGO standards and local and federal employment law.
- Provide proactive and responsive support on sensitive employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and terminations, in partnership with Legal and Employee Relations as appropriate.
- Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to implement enterprise-wide programs and leverage subject matter expertise.
- Promote and exhibit VGO values and culture.
- Analyze HR metrics and employee data to generate insights, recommend solutions, and drive continuous improvement across programs and processes.
- Lead or contribute to special projects that align with HR and business strategies, including those focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or business partner capacity.
- Demonstrated ability to advise, influence, and partner with leaders across functional areas.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proven experience implementing HR programs across the talent lifecycle.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed, and dynamic environment.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High degree of professional integrity and discretion.
- Experience with HRIS systems and using data to inform decisions.
