Valvoline Global Operations Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY. If local, we prefer candidates willing to work a hybrid in-office schedule (3 days per week). We are open to candidates working in a remote capacity but willing to travel to HQs quarterly.
How You’ll Make An Impact
The Global Director of Data Science & Analytics will lead the strategic direction and execution of the company’s data science and analytics initiatives across multiple regions. This individual will be responsible for building and scaling a high-performing data science team, developing actionable insights from complex data sets, and driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. Experience with SAP (preferably S4 HANA), Databricks, Salesforce, and other pricing analysis tools is crucial. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of how data is managed, and integrated into global platforms, and will expand their expertise into market pricing and marketing analytics. By reporting to the Senior Director of Global Pricing & Analytics, this role will play a critical part in supporting pricing strategies, revenue management, and advanced analytics across global markets.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and manage a global team of data scientists, data analysts, and data engineers across various regions.
- Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data science and analytics, ensuring alignment with the company’s business goals and global pricing strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, marketing, operations, and finance) to identify and prioritize data initiatives that drive business value.
- Champion the adoption of advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning solutions to solve complex business challenges, with a focus on pricing, revenue, and marketing analytics.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the organization, promoting the use of data to inform decision-making at all levels.
- Analytics & Insights
- Oversee the development of predictive models, statistical analysis, and optimization techniques to generate insights that impact business performance and pricing strategies.
- Design and implement scalable analytics solutions to support growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience, especially in market pricing and marketing analytics.
- Develop key metrics and KPIs to measure and track business performance, delivering insights that drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure proper data governance, security, and compliance measures are implemented and maintained globally.
- Data Management & Integration
- Lead efforts to manage and integrate data into global platforms, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and optimization across the organization.
- Ensure the seamless integration of data across multiple business systems, such as SAP (preferably S4 HANA), Databricks, and Salesforce, to provide a unified view of key business metrics.
- Work closely with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data infrastructure and architecture align with business needs.
- Technology & Innovation
- Stay at the forefront of emerging data science technologies and methodologies, continuously seeking opportunities to leverage AI, ML, and big data analytics for innovation.
- Guide the selection of tools, platforms, and infrastructure for scalable data processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Promote best practices for data integrity, accuracy, and quality in data collection, storage, and analysis processes.
- Leverage expertise in SAP (preferably S4 HANA), Databricks, Salesforce, and pricing analysis tools to improve forecasting, pricing models, and business insights.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on all matters related to data science, analytics, data management, and pricing.
- Partner with external vendors, academic institutions (as appropriate), and other organizations to bring new capabilities and innovative approaches into the company’s data strategy.
- Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders, translating complex data science concepts into actionable business insights.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing global teams.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing data science strategies that drive business results.
- Strong experience with advanced analytics, machine learning, and big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with SAP (preferably S4 HANA), Databricks, Salesforce, and pricing analysis tools is required.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, and familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of data governance, data privacy regulations, and compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills with the ability to manage global, cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a business-oriented mindset.
- Deep understanding of how data is managed and integrated across global platforms.
- Expertise in market pricing and marketing analytics.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a global company or managing data science initiatives across different regions.
- Exposure to agile project management and product development methodologies.
