Job Purpose
To serve as the primary in-house legal counsel for Indonesia, providing end-to-end legal support to the business while ensuring compliance with Indonesian laws and regulations.
The role is responsible for delivering practical, timely, and commercially sound legal advice, supporting local operations and selected regional (APAC) legal matters, with appropriate escalation to and support by the regional legal team.
How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)
- Serve as the primary in-house legal contact for Indonesia, managing day-to-day legal matters with end-to-end ownership.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements supporting local and regional business operations.
- Provide practical legal advice on Indonesian laws and regulations, including contracts, corporate, consumer, data protection, employment, and product regulations (e.g. SNI).
- Support the business in adapting to regulatory changes, translating legal requirements into actionable guidance.
- Handle routine company secretarial and corporate governance matters, including circular resolutions, corporate approvals, and coordination of notarial deeds and filings.
- Coordinate and manage external counsel, including scoping, reviewing legal advice, and controlling costs.
- Support selected regional (APAC) legal work, including cross-border contract review and regional legal initiatives.
- Identify legal and regulatory risks and escalate material or high-risk issues to the regional legal team in a timely manner.
What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)
- Bachelor of Laws (S.H.) from an accredited Indonesian university.
- Law firm and in-house background preferred (approximately 1.5–4 years PQE).
- Solid foundation in Indonesian contract law and corporate/commercial matters.
- Working knowledge of Indonesian regulatory frameworks, including product and technical regulations.
- Exposure to oil & gas, lubricants, chemicals, or other regulated industries is preferred.
- Native in Bahasa Indonesia and strong working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Advocate license (PERADI) is required.
- Ability to operate independently as the sole local legal contact, with sound judgment on when to escalate.
