The IT Desktop Systems Engineer designs, implements, and supports various applications and software for multiple business units. Also responsible for managing mobile devices including policy, application deployment and device enrollment. Responsible for working as a go-between across various MSPs to support end user workstation lifecycles ranging from acquisition to deployment to decommission. Responds to and diagnoses difficult problems of low to high complexity through discussion with users and other IT resources as needed, including troubleshooting, fault rectification and problem escalation. Assists in hardware and software evaluation and recommends upgrades or improvements to IT infrastructure.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Scope, design, implement, and support new solutions and/or expand existing solutions to meet current and upcoming business needs.
- Support application specific infrastructure such as application servers, application configurations, and deployments including server configuration, service installation, and Group Policy design.
- Work with vendors and Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to support infrastructure, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure completion of daily tasks.
- Manage multiple MDM platforms for multiple workstation (MacOS and Windows) and mobile (Android/iOS) operating systems across a variety of use cases including enrollment, configuration, and end user support escalations. Deploy/update applications and make changes as the business units needs change.
- Resolves day-to-day Service Desk issues by being a Level 3 subject matter expert, driving aging tickets and customer service issues to completion. Provides feedback to management and MSPs as it relates to the services provided from the service desk and other business units. Implement and document changes through change control process.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in PC support and/or system administration role
- Windows Server and Active Directory Domain Services Experience, including design of group policy and organizational groups
- Experience with Intune and Windows Autopilot, including design and enforcement of compliance policies
Licenses and Certifications
- ITL Foundations, Microsoft related certifications related to PC management preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Demonstrated experience managing endpoints (physical and virtual) with Microsoft Intune and Autopilot
- Intermediate experience supporting multiple computing platforms (e.g. mobile, workstation, and server operating systems and applications)
- Intermediate project management skills with prior successful record on technical upgrades
- Intermediate technical background in endpoint management to manage client computers such as but not limited to SCCM and Intune required
- Intermediate technical background in communications, collaboration tools in relation to telecom and audio conferencing
- Experience working with 3rd party vendors regarding project/day-to-day operations required
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate with lead desktop engineering resources to complete tasks as related to the work requirements
