Job Overview

 

The Sr. Learning Technologist will be responsible for managing and maintaining VGO’s global, training platform, which primarily includes establishing and testing content, overseeing user accounts/audiences, partnering with customers and vendors, managing system enhancements, as well as troubleshooting issues. This role will help to establish/facilitate a Governance Advisory Council and serve as a liaison between end users and LMS System.  This role may mentor junior team members.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manages LMS functions, including system monitoring, data management, maintenance of system parameters, management of user roles, and interface with integration vendors. Interface with vendors and technology providers to configure, test, and implement tools and functionalities to enhance the LMS environment to meet internal and external needs
  • Oversees the creation, edit and/or retirement of training items and curricula in the LMS. Edits/links training materials to ensure availability to users via the LMS File and maintain training records for easy retrieval. Administer LMS, including uploads, enrollments, user accounts, attendance, notifications, troubleshooting, testing, and customer support
  • Serves as the LMS project manager and troubleshooter for user interface issues, navigation challenges, and other obstacles related to the system. Provides technical support and training to users. Support the instructional design efforts including providing guidance on overall course structure, creating support materials, knowledge assessments, and course feedback as needed
  • Generates metrics, reporting and trends as determined by the business (data, frequency, format, etc.) and communicate as appropriate
  • Works with internal teams and vendors to automate various processes and tasks within the learning environment. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure that the LMS is meeting the needs of our organization. Promoting new content and functionality to the user community
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion

  • Regular contact with Corporate & Plant/Warehouse Employees, Sellers (Direct/Nat’l Acct. & Indirect), Marketing, Product, Identity and Access Management, Global Brand Equity & Digital, IT, EH&S, Organizational Development, Supply Chain teams

External:

  • Channel Partners, Customers, Vendors, & Content providers

Education

 

Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in applicable fields of study, such as Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Training/Education, Technical Writing (or a related field).

 

Work Experience

 

 

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in LMS/LXP Administration required

 

Preferred:

  • Minimum 4 years eLearning authoring tools (i.e., Articulate Storyline/RISE, Adobe Captivate, etc.); multimedia tools (i.e., Audacity, Camtasia, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Minimum 4 years using data to evaluate learning solutions and making improvement recommendations
  • Ability to interface with global customers where English is not the native language.
  • Intermediate experience in instructional design, online development/graphic tools, and usability.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

 

  • Advanced knowledge of user roles/privileges, common problems, functional implementations, maintenance, and reporting/visualizations
  • Advanced knowledge of eLearning standards, including Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM), AICC, and xAPI
  • Advanced technical skills and ability to troubleshoot issues as well as conceptualize and fulfill creative solutions
  • Ability to influence peers and leaders when presenting solutions and recommendations
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning (i.e., ADDIE Model, Design Thinking, Kirkpatrick Model, Bloom’s Taxonomy, etc.), instructional design theory and models, learning styles, and performance improvement models
  • Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and fact-based decision-making abilities
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple, complex projects with tight timeframes in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new information and processes quickly
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Expert in use of Microsoft Office Suite PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Experience with remote training using asynchronous meeting tools such as NetMeeting, Webex, or LiveMeeting

 

Physical Requirements/Work  Environment

 

  • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  • Position may be remote with travel to corporate office or other locations within the organizational footprint
