How You'll Make An Impact

The FP&A Manager is responsible for advanced business decision support, including monthly & quarterly performance reporting and analysis, forecasting, strategic planning, and budgeting, while continually improving upon existing processes and partnering for ad hoc needs as the business requires.  The position works closely with business management and/or functional resource group management to have a complete understanding of the profit & loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and the financial drivers for maximizing performance and Valvoline's shareholder value. Position requires a strong skill set of financial and data analytics, and financial modeling.

 

We prefer local candidates willing to work an in-office work schedule (3 days per week) in our Guadalajara, Mexico office.

 

Responsibilities includes 

  • Project modeling, management reporting & analysis, forecasting & budgetting, and other operational and management support. 
  • Responsible for effectively working with leaders and department team members to conduct high-level analysis of the financial components to develop analytical modeling tools, create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as well as communicate results to leadership on findings.
  • Planning and Forecasting - Lead or partner with various Commercial, Supply Chain, FP&A, and other finance functions to consolidate regional operating plans and forecasts at the operating income level. Budgets for all Business Unit cost centers. Participates with business unit managers to create and measure long-range plans. 
  • Analyze financial and operational results to better understand BU performance including cost center results analysis; sales & margin analysis (volume, price, cost, FX, and mix); trade working capital analysis to identify reduction opportunities and other efficiencies.  Build upon and strengthen collaboration with the accounting team to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Financial Analysis – Prepare business cases to support new investments or other commercial initiatives. Works with Business Unit managers to build effective financial models with specific performance measures and resulting profit and cash flow projections. Analysis requires careful evaluation of key assumptions and identifying all ranges of opportunities and risks. Prepares discounted cash flow and other calculations to measure attractiveness of investment opportunities, including multiple scenarios. Uses experience, all available information, and judgement to reach independent decisions. Track, monitor, and report on the progress of growth initiatives, including post-audit measures of performance.
  • Interfaces cross-functionally and sometimes globally with other key parts of the business. Oversees and maintain processes driving continuous improvement of the P&L functions. These include Unit and P&L forecasting, monthly performance reporting, analysis, strategic and business planning, target setting, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and communicate actual performance and results to senior management and identify/explain key factors to variances. Prepare monthly presentations for senior leadership covering plans and forecasts.

 

What You'll Need

  • B.S. in Accounting, Finance, or related degree; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 8 yr experience, 5 years in Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • A good team player who shows humble, hungry, and smart characteristics and collaborates effectively across an organization
  • Strong analytical skills, with a financial planning and analysis background
  • Thorough understanding of Discounted Cash Flow Analysis
  • Project management
  • Proven strategically focused leadership capability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, flexible, organized, adaptable, and pays attention to detail.
  • Must be customer-focused, seek continuous improvement, and be highly self-directed.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel and database tools

What Will Set You Apart

  • Preferred work experience in ERP system (SAP)
