Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager – OEM & Strategic Accounts ANZ will acquire, maintain & grow OEM and Strategic Accounts across Australia and New Zealand. The role will ensure the execution of sales & marketing objectives, strategies and tactics in the OEM and Strategic Accounts allocated for this role, in accordance with company goals and the strategic plan in Australia & New Zealand.
The role seeks out and secures new business opportunities in the region either from extension from other Valvoline connections globally or local opportunities. The role expands local OEM/ SA relationships to other Valvoline markets as appropriate and is responsible for the overall management of and relationships with existing business partners.
The role will operate in either the Automotive segment, Heavy Duty/Commercial & Industrial segment, or a combination of the above depending on where the priorities and resources are required at the time
How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)
Responsible for achieving the OEM and Strategic Accounts sales & profit targets across ALL product categories in lubes and car care by delivering on the below:

Responsible for securing new OEM and Strategic National Account business in ANZ. Secure opportunities to bid as they become available and pitch for various products and services.

Develop and maintain a target listing of all OEM's and Strategic Accounts in the region with data regarding key contacts, current incumbent, overall volume/business opportunities and existing contract time frames.

Strategic Account Management of allocated OEM &Strategic Accounts. Forge strong business working relationships with key decision makers and conduct formal business reviews to drive year on year growth of volume, profitability, and customer retention.

Develop and implement account plans to increase share of account (SOA) via GAP selling amongst existing roof tops or increasing roof top conversion to drive growth of year-on-year volume and profitability. Project milestones to be completed and formally reviewed on a quarterly basis internally and at customer business review meetings (where projects are shared).

Responsible for executing Pricing Strategy to ensure maximisation of margin

Assist in the execution of business/marketing plans in all allocated segments. Work with the Marketing Manager in achieving and maintaining marketing budgets pertaining to the business.

Ensure that field sales staff and sales management are briefed on new initiatives and provide training and information to assist the engagement of our sales and customer service staff. Obtain and monitor information concerning the latest techniques and OEM practices applicable in the global market.

Assist the Marketing/Product Manager for design co-ordination and dispatch of all promotional material including the development of Sales Play Books and Sales Platforms. Assist the Marketing Manager in collection and collation of market research information and competitive data. Disseminate that information in easy to understand formats to the field staff where appropriate. Ensure that the company makes the most effective use of available material e.g., database technology, marketing collateral, and media communiqués.

Liaise with supply chain on product forecasting and trends with view to seamless product supply to designated market segments.

Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.
Primary Interactions

Work in a collaborative manner with Valvoline customers, prospects, and internal stakeholders, notably supply chain, technical and marketing

Works closely with Heads of Sales Automotive/C&I, Marketing/Product Managers, State/Regional Managers, National and Regional BDMs.
What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as business or marketing would be highly regarded
-
10+ years sales within a relevant industry
-
Considerable experience in the automotive/heavy duty or industrial lubrication industry preferred

Proven high level sales experience and results driven

Ability to build relationships and display proven negotiation skills at senior levels of organisations (Procurement Teams, General Managers, CFOs, and CEOs)

Highly analytical and ability to manage price and margins in a commodity-based environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, through all levels of an organisation.

Lubricant technical knowledge and experience in the lubricant market would be highly advantageous to this position

Ability to function constructively within a team environment, as well as working autonomously

A proactive and positive attitude with the ability to use initiative
