Job Purpose

The Operations Controller – EMEA plays a pivotal role in strengthening financial and operational performance across Valvoline Global Operations’ regional Supply Chain. As a core member of the EMEA Supply Chain leadership team and key advisor to the Senior Director, Supply Chain EMEA, this Netherlands-based role drives insight, transparency, and performance across the region.

 

This position delivers financial leadership and decision support through accurate reporting, forecasting, and business case modelling. With initial focus on Europe and expansion to the Middle East and Saudi Arabia (KSA), the role provides structure and continuity across end-to-end supply chain operations—allowing regional leaders to focus on execution and long-term strategy.

 

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

Core Financial Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly SC financials (P&L, variance analysis, KPIs), highlighting trends and risks.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, identifying opportunities and recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with internal controls and applicable standards.
  • Develop business cases for investment or cost-reduction initiatives across EMEA SC operations.

 

Operational Performance Responsibilities

  • Monitor operational performance across production, logistics, inventory, and service metrics.
  • Partner with operations leaders to improve resource utilization, reduce waste, and optimize productivity.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement efforts, validating financial impact and progress of initiatives.

 

Controls, Systems, and Compliance

  • Maintain strong internal controls over SC-related financial and operational processes.
  • Support audits (internal/external) by ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee ERP/reporting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.) for data integrity and standardization across regions.
  • Drive improvements in reporting processes, cost tracking, and dashboard development.

 

Business Partnering and Leadership

  • Serve as a key business partner to the SC leadership team, translating analytics into operational insights.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Procurement, Finance, PLM, HR) to align financial planning with SC strategy.
  • Present clear, actionable reporting to senior leadership and act as a sounding board for strategic decisions.
  • Coach or mentor analyst/finance team members where applicable.

 

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

  • MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in operations controlling, FP&A, or plant/business finance within a multinational environment.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and KPI tracking.
  • In-depth understanding of operational processes in manufacturing, logistics, or service-driven environments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional, non-finance stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to distill complex financial data into operational insights for senior leaders.
  • Proficiency in Excel and enterprise reporting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Fluent in English; additional languages (e.g., Dutch, Arabic) are a plus.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements / Travel Requirements

  • Corporate office environment, based in the Netherlands.
  • Standard desk-based work with extended screen time.
  • Travel within the EMEA region required (~10–20%) for reviews, workshops, and initiatives.
