A Maintenance Engineer is the backbone of operational efficiency, ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of equipment within an organization. They perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair malfunctions, and maintain accurate records to prevent breakdowns and keep everything running smoothly. This role directly contributes to the organization's success by minimizing downtime, optimizing equipment lifespan, and ensuring safety within the workplace.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance: re-evaluate routine maintenance tasks like lubrication, cleaning tasks and adjust where necessary. Conduct inspections to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and identify the root cause via an RCA of the problem and Repair and troubleshoot faulty equipment using appropriate tools and techniques and set-up proper work instructions for other technicians or operations.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs and replacements, prepare reports outlining equipment performance, identified issues and completed repairs. Review completed workorders where necessary.
• May assist with installation and commissioning of new or modified equipment.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and protocols
• Stay updated on advancements in technology and maintenance practices.

Education

Preferred Education (in addition to minimum):
HBO – Technical background (technical education with a certificate in electrical engineering): This additional qualification equips individuals with specific knowledge and skills necessary for working with electrical equipment.

Work Experience

• Relevant work experience: Experience in similar roles or internships within the desired production environment.
• A minimum of 3 or 5 years of experience in a similar international role, preferably in a production environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

Technical Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems: This includes knowledge of relevant machinery, tools, and equipment used in the specific industry or workplace.
• Working knowledge of relevant technical drawings, schematics, and diagrams: Ability to interpret technical documentation and apply it for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance tasks.
• Understanding of basic electrical principles and safety procedures: Knowledge of safe electrical work practices and potential hazards associated with electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with relevant maintenance methodologies: Understanding of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and corrective maintenance practices.
• Awareness of relevant environmental regulations and safety standards: Knowledge of Dutch regulations and standards pertaining to waste management, safety protocols, and environmental protection practices.

Skills:

• Problem-solving and critical thinking: Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions.
• Analytical skills: Ability to collect and analyze data, interpret information, and draw conclusions to guide decision-making.
• Technical skills: Proficiency using tools and equipment relevant to the specific maintenance tasks, such as hand tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic tools.
• Mechanical skills: Ability to perform mechanical repairs, adjustments, and replacements on various equipment components.
• Communication skills: Effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, and potentially clients to share information, report issues, and collaborate on solutions.
• Time management and organizational skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently while meeting deadlines.

Competencies:

• Attention to detail: Ability to focus on precise details, follow procedures diligently, and ensure accuracy in completing tasks.
• Strong work ethic: Demonstrating initiative, commitment to quality, and willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
• Teamwork and collaboration: Effectively collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
• Safety awareness: Prioritizing safety in all work practices and adhering to safety regulations and procedures.

Additional Considerations:

• Language skills: Dutch is a plus.
• Computer literacy: Proficiency in using relevant software applications for data analysis, maintenance records management, or computer-aided design (CAD) programs might be beneficial.
