The role of the European Freight Manager is to ensure that all Freight processes are in place to deliver products in a compliant, professional, , and cost-efficient way to our customers.  This role requires carrier / forwarder management and ongoing monitoring of freight spend.

 

In this role you'll be...

  • Having the accountability to manage all European freight processes to ensure our carriers / forwarders are working in line with Valvoline’s standards & expectations
  • Fully accountable for the management of Valvoline Europe’s freight vendors (carriers & forwarders). The role has full accountability to ensure they are performing at the required levels of performance, safety, sustainability etc.
  • Responsible for setting all freight budgets, the ongoing analysis, management & optimization of European freight spend in line with budgets.  Reporting of freight spend & budget management monthly to senior management / EMT. Implement and maintain freight related KPI’s for our European organization with accountability for continuous improvement of the European Logistics organization.
  • Managing of Valvoline’s European 3rd party warehouse network, with accountability for their performance and adherence to Valvoline standards & requirements.  Accountable for budget adherence of the 3rd party warehouse network.
  • Having sole accountability for the development & implementation of new freight processes, and strategies to increase efficiencies, whilst reducing costs of all freight operations.
  • Acting as deputy to the European Logistics Manager for daily operational business, and as a direct replacement for the European Logistics Manager in the SC EMEA management team as needed
  • Initiating and directly manage Logistics based projects, and represent European Logistics with Supply Chain related projects. Drive optimization and cost reduction projects for freight related topics
  • Accountable for resolving and addressing all issues related to freight, damaged goods, delays and other Logistical challenges.

What you'll bring...

  • Bachelor diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum two years of work experience working in the logistics’ industry, ideally within warehousing & road / ocean freight sectors.
  • Good to excellent Dutch & English language skills both verbally and written
  • Good knowledge of rules and regulations for freight and warehousing (EVOFENEDEX or similar)
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem solving skills
  • Experience with MS office
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Team player

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to think with an agile mind.
  • Continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of transportation documents is preferred
