Job overview
- Responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that drives continuous improvement in the areas of Environment, Health and Safety. Lead the implementation of and assure compliance with Valvoline EHS policies and local regulations applicable to the region.
- Provide leadership, professional knowledge and technical expertise in the administration and support of regulatory compliance, permitting, policy and program development and training to multiple supply chain facilities.
- Developing and driving programs that continuously improve employee safety performance in the region to world class standards;
- Guiding company wide EHS-related objectives and supporting execution of EHS-related initiatives;
- Developing and implementing regional and local EHS management systems and maintenance of applicable certifications of such systems (e.g., RC14001, ISO45001, ANSI Z10, etc.) within the assigned region.
What you'll be doing...
Compliance
Track/analyze local regulatory changes and provide local direction on compliance issues. Coordinate sustainability and environmental permits/processes
Risk management
Identifying and evaluating hazards, prioritizing the associated risks, and thereby managing measures that lead to acceptable (safety) conditions with costs and yield.
Management of processes and systems
Maintain and continuously improve the (EHS) management systems in accordance with the primary process of Valvoline, to support a safe and environmentally friendly work situation. Coordinate purchasing requests regarding EHS related topics.
Incident investigation
Carrying out conducting effective root cause analyses for incidents and trends. Support in defining effective control measures.
Transferring knowledge, attitudes and ethics
Transferring knowledge, attitudes and ethical awareness and acting as a coach and counselor in safety and environmental issues, to enable individuals to fulfill their role and take responsibility
Stakeholder management
Make trade-offs about building relationships with stakeholders and involving and influencing them in the concern for safety.
Culture and behavior
Involving people and the organization to coach them effectively (during changes) for a positive safety result.
Auditing and inspection
Conducting and managing safety audits, in which facts and evidence are tested against legislation and standards, and inspections.
Information collection / analysis and effective advice
Retrieve Environmental and Sustainability, as well as Health and Safety information from the processes within the organization, analyze it and report on it to support decisions on an operational and tactical level.

- Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO)
Activity: the PFSO is responsible for supervising compliance with the set security measures.
Think of: ISPS, Principles of security, Port Security Measures, Port Facility Plan, Port Security Committee, Port Facility Assessment, Declaration of Security, Measures levels 2 and 3, Access control, Training requirements.
- Prevention officer Dordrecht/ Klundert
(Global EHS manager EMEA is back up for Klundert as being a SEVESO location)
Activity: To (co-) draw up and implement the Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RI&E).
Advising and working closely with the works council / staff representation on the measures to be taken for a good working conditions policy.
- BNO Coordinator Dordrecht
Activity: Coordinate training and execution of the BHV checklists, keep BHV up to date in number of participants
What you'll bring...
4 year degree in engineering and/or safety.
5+ years in EHS, preferably with multi-site and some management experience
Preferably:
- HVK certificate
- Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO)
- BNO coordinator (training)
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of risk assessment and control methodologies
- Basic knowledge of formal auditing practices
- Working knowledge of comprehensive EHS management systems such as RC14001, ISO45001, or ANSI Z10
Skills
- Excellent communication skills that enable to act at different levels (internal and external).
- Local regulatory codes safety, health and environment.
- ISO management systems such as VCA, 9001, 14001 and 45001
- Demonstrable extensive experience with Office / Word, Excel and Outlook, Teams, administrative processes
- Professional command of the Dutch & English language
