Job Purpose

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous operation of boilers, auxiliary equipment and utility systems, including their monitoring, maintenance, testing and related record-keeping.

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

·       Operate and maintain boiler-related equipment.

·       Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of the boiler.

·       Read gauges, meters and charts to monitor boiler operation.

·       Inspect equipment to ensure the efficient operation of the boiler.

·       Routinely check the operation of safety devices.

·       Record data and maintain operating, maintenance and safety logs.

·       Operate and maintain boilers and perform routine testing and inspections, including water sampling and testing and boiler blowdown.

·       Operate the boiler plant and related equipment supplying the facility.

·       Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, compressors, air dryers, condensate separators and feedwater pumps.

·       Continuously monitor and record the operating parameters of the above-mentioned systems.

·       Monitor the water treatment plant.

·       Check boiler-room pumps on a daily basis.

·       Maintain a clean working environment in the boiler room, the designated welding area in front of the boiler room and the air-handling-unit rooms.

·       Propose the spare parts required for the operation of utility facilities, including the boiler room, air-handling units, compressors, ventilation systems, water supply installations and the well-water system.

·       Mark and secure the work area where hot work is performed, including welding, cutting, grinding and similar activities.

·       Participate in reporting activities in work orders through the CMMS computerized work-order system.

·       Routinely check the operation of safety devices.

·       Mark and secure the work area where hot work is performed.

·       Maintain safety records.

·       Comply with safety procedures and rules when operating boilers, gas installations and related equipment.

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

·       Education level: Level III vocational qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.

·       Licences/certificates: Steam Boiler Operator with ATK controls (Boiler Operator with Automatic Thermal Control – ATK).

·       Passed professional examination in the field of fire protection.

·       Qualification to operate gas installations.

·       Foreign-language knowledge: Not specified.

·       Years of experience: 3 years.
