Job Purpose

 

The Human Resources Officer is responsible for supporting the full range of HR functions, ensuring smooth management of employee life cycle processes from onboarding through to offboarding. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate records, handling HR documentation, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and employment legislation.

 

In addition, the Human Resources Officer serves as the first point of contact for employees, managers, and external stakeholders, providing timely responses to HR-related queries and escalating complex matters as appropriate. The role involves building positive working relationships, delivering professional guidance, and supporting initiatives that enhance employee experience and engagement.

 

This position also contributes to the efficient delivery of HR operations by supporting policy and program implementation, assisting with reporting requirements, and coordinating HR-related projects and activities. The Human Resources Officer works collaboratively within the global and local HR function to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality in all aspects of people management and administrative support.

 

How You Make an Impact 

 

  • Administration:

    • Coordinate successful onboarding of new employees with all stakeholders

    • Deliver HR induction to new employees

    • Maintain organizational charts

    • Manage all HR communication platforms (i.e. Staff Announcements, HR intranet, newsletter, TVs, Town Halls)

    • Coordinate successful offboarding of employees as required, including conducting of exit interviews

    • Assist with recruitment and payroll processing, when required

    • Maintain HR work instructions and correspondence templates

    • Monthly and ad hoc reporting requirements

 

  • HR Compliance:

    • Maintain accuracy and currency of personnel files and related employment records

    • Track significant dates and milestones as related to employment records, ensuring compliance and appropriate action (i.e. probation reviews, end of contract terms, parental leave, flexible work arrangements)

    • Prepare and distribute HR correspondence

    • Maintain HRIS records including routine audit/data validation

    • Assist in management of HR related policies

 

  • Employee/Industrial Relations:

    • Provides application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures (with guidance from Head of Human Resources)

    • Assist in the administration of Enterprise Agreement bargaining, as required

    • Assist Head of Human Resources with performance management processes, as required

    • Assist Head of Human Resources and Safety with Fitness for Work related matters

 

  • Reward & Recognition:

    • Manage local reward and recognition programs

    • Manage service awards

 

  • Other:

    • Lead DEI initiatives

    • Coordinate HR related events and activities

    • Assist in leading employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives

    • Lead and assist in assigned global/local HR related projects, initiatives and activities

 

What You Bring to the Role

Qualifications:

  • Cert IV in Human Resources, or equivalent working experience

 

Experience & Skills:

  • 5+ years HR administrative experience (full scope)

  • General awareness and understanding of employment legislation framework

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements / Travel Requirements

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

  • Office based role

  • 1 day per week travel to Wetherill Park Plant.
